OOXML as an ISO Standard?

Let's go technical for a minute here.

OOXML (Office OpenXML) format has been getting a lot of attention these days. Why? Well, you see, it starts out as Microsoft Office format as an ISO standard. Seeing that a big percentage of all business use Microsoft Office for document related work -- these would probably do good, right? It seems though that there is more to this than meets the eye.

Issues have been sprouting everywhere about this topic.

Here are a couple of links:

There is even a petition site:

I've signed a couple documents lately so I'll just going to see through the issues surrounding this in a while.
