Mixers, Recipes and Memories

As I travel back into my memory hall, one in particular that I could not easily forget are birthdays -- most of them being my birthdays. For one thing, my mother makes sure that I celebrate my birthday in a special kind of way -- it didn't matter that I was already in college -- it had to be celebrated. I guess this was one of the perks of being the only child.

Of course, there were different sorts of food served -- but -- it was my mother's frosted chocolate cake that I think made all special. Why? Because even in her busy schedule -- she always found time to bake it -- whole-heartedly. I have become accustomed to its taste -- and I think the whole family have come to embrace its taste.

I can still remember how the TV screen flickers every time she uses the mixer to make the chocolate frosting. Those were the days.

I'm not sure but I think the recipe was somewhat similar to this:

3 oz. Baking chocolate (melted squares)
1/2 cup Butter or margarine
2 1/4 cups Light brown sugar, lightly packed
3 Eggs
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
2 tsp Baking soda
1/2 tsp Salt
2 1/4 cups Sifted cake flour
1 cup Dairy sour cream
1 cup Boiling water

I'm not a baker so I can't remember how all of this ingredients are mixed and matched.

I wished my mother knew about
the Hamilton Beach® Mixer because with its high-performance electronics ensured constant power which would lessen the interference of electricity while she was using it.

Though you were not watching TV, you would still know she was already using the mixer because of the noise that her mixer makes. With the Hamilton Beach® Stand Mixer, it features a quieter operation against the leading competition.

This year -- as a gift and thank you for all the birthday celebrations she held for me -- I will get her an Eclectrics® Mixer. Maybe, she'll get back on track on celebrating again my birthdays annually starting next year. :)
