Hello guys. I haven't written for a while now. The busy schedule keeps away from this blog and from writing.
I have, however, managed to do a mini project on the side. Here is the story.
--
Lately, I am having this feeling of wanting to give something back.
To our mother earth, a monthly 500 pesos donation to an organization that aims to put nature in top shape for now, and for the future.
To my current company, 1 to 3 hours of pro-bono work -- almost daily for the past month -- and on-going.
I felt that I also need to give something back to my hometown - the City of Golden Friendship - Cagayan de Oro City.
To the city, I present Cagayan de Oro City's very own classified ads website -- cdeoclassifieds.com.
I know there are already others out there. I don't mean to compete. I don't expect this site to lift off. Again, I just want (maybe even need) to give back, and this is the only way I know how.
---
And that's the story behind CdeO Classifieds.
Go now and check it out.

Time to Get Back into the Game
And it begins now, by saying:
A hairy communist bolts.
What?! Yeah... I don't even understand what that means myself.

the morning routine
For almost a year now, my morning routine has been to get up between 6-7 in the morning. To jump start the day, I do some stretches and head to the showers. After a refreshing bath, it's time to dress up for the day. If ever there is some breakfast prepared by the lovely wife, it always a good idea to eat one. So, as much as I can I eat my breakfast, and then, brush my teeth. Now packed with energy, with only a few minutes left (usually 1-2 minutes) before the train arrives, I kiss my kid and wife goodbye, and run like hell to the train station. It's a good thing that my home is just 2 minutes away from the station.
While running, I scavenge around my bag for my wallet and my music player. The wallet is here I keep my train ticket. I just touch my wallet to the sensor, and tada! -- the little train station gate opens -- very convenient for the running types like me. I had an iPod Classic, but the wifey commandeered it and replace it with an iPod Shuffle. It pissed me off at first but it proved to be convenient because I just had to attached the little thing to my front pocket rather than using an iPod lanyard or similar iPod accessory and have it dangling around.
On the train is one of the most boring places ever when I am not listening to any music, or doing anything for that matter. For me, it's a place to catch my breath, rejuvenate for the day and just listen peacefully to the tracks on your player. And thank goodness for the headphones, the other passengers don't have put up with my musical taste. I can't imagine bringing a high-quality speaker which is bigger than my music player. My point is that I am just thankful that the headphones were invented.
Reaching the destination itself is, I think, already the start of the day's work. Why? Upon getting off the train, you have line up to ride the escalator. Who am I up against? Robots. (I think I have become one as well.) The good thing about this is that these robots have sort of an mutual understanding who goes to ride the escalator first. It's like they are wearing iTrips to broadcast to near by robots that it's my turn to ride the escalator.
But, my morning routine doesn't end here. I have one last sprint before reaching the office. And about the same time, there is a petite woman who starts her day running like hell going to the train station to catch her train schedule.
And that there -- is my usual morning routine. And the vicious routine starts over and over every morning.

Gears and the Police
What gears do you usually see a policeman carry? A gun, a radio, a couple of extra bullets, etc. Well, being in this part of the world for quite a while, here, I think I saw to types of policeman, and I think they carry different crime fighting gears. The First type, are those who ride in bicycles, and the second type, are those who typically ride a police car. I am more interested in those who ride in bicycles. I passed by one a week ago and as I swiftly made a "gear" check -- I didn't see the gun. But his bicycle did have a big casket like box on the back. Maybe, there are 5.11 Tactical Knives inside, or even a fully automatic machine gun. Who knows? As for the bike per se, I was expecting of a bike that could let you do parkour like moves. Instead, he is riding the ever reliable shopping bike. Imagine that doing a sharp drift on a hair pin.
Do you have something to share?
The mix of two distinct worlds of gaming and music really stirred my interests. I play the guitar and sometimes jam with the band in gigs. The moment I heard about Guitar Hero -- I just said to myself -- I had to get that game pronto! Long story short and a $150 poorer, I finally got to hold the GH guitar for the first time and rock myself into oblivion.
Are you the type who loves to share stuff -- Places where you spent your vacation -- Gadgets that you recently bought? Then, you just have to visit acobay.
There are a lot of stuff categorized appropriately you can share and talk about. For example, if you drive a pimped Pontiac G6, you can add that car and tell the whole world about it. For instance you tell them, how you drove all over downtown and got everybody's head turning. More importantly, you can give reviews and personal opinions about the car. Come to think of it, you are indirectly giving others who are interested with a Pontiac G6 an assessment which could help them in their decisions.
Give it a try! And give others your comments and reviews about your new gadget, car, game, your recent vacation destination, etc.

Looking for a Playstation 3?
I remembered when I was on the market for a Playstation 3... it was this year, at around June. I was searching all over -- all around the city, even on the outskirts looking for a bargain price.
And then after a month or so, I finally stumbled on a 1 day sale of a black 40 Gb Playstation 3. Unfortunately for me, I found out about it at around 7 o'clock in the evening, which was a real bummer, you know how it is when the Playstation 3 and drop down prices. Nevertheless, hopeful, I still went and checked.
This is what happened -- they were willing to give me one, but it will be delivered in 1 week. No biggy -- I can handle playing a week of the waiting game. But, I need to have a coupon in order to avail of the sale. Coupon? what coupon? In order to get the coupon, I need to have a cellphone. As ludicrous as this would sound for a gadget boy like me, I still don't have a cellphone back then. Lucky for me, the clerk was willing to help me out on this one, and used his cellphone instead. Unluckily for me, they couldn't give me anymore coupon because there weren't any anymore.
Now -- if you are looking for one, I suggest you visit ShopWiki as a first step. It will help you in your search and not end up like me who only had a PS3after 3 months of searching.
And oh yeah -- after I bought my PS3 -- a week later -- Sony announced that a new PSU will be released with 80Gb of HDD and bundled Little Big Planet game. Stuff like this just happens -- I got over it once I played over a few Playstation 3 games on my PS3.

Business and Advertising
There comes a point in our lives when we think of having a business of our own. Some were lucky enough to have realized and put up their own businesses. My cousin has already started his and I hope his business does well.
For me, this is that point in my life. But, being the overly cautious man that I am, I started thinking about how to succeed.
One aspect that you have to consider in order to succeed would be advertising. There are advertising agencies anywhere that could prove helpful in this field. If you're business is in the UK, there are UK Advertising Agencies, and same goes in the US or any part of the world for that matter. Although not all company need advertising, but, for the following reasons, I think even small companies should employ some kind of advertising.
Number 5 - Let the people (your market) know that you exists
Number 4 - Create an image (a positive one) for your company
Number 3 - Customer Retention
Number 2 - Gain Customers (preferably new ones)
Number 1 - Company Market Positioning
For those reasons, I think it is best to invest some buck for advertising. With today's technologies, one could probably reach customers anywhere and anyhow.

for the eye
I remember the days when I got my first prescription glasses -- thick, and the shape just totally took out the minute handsomeness left in my face. There goes the chick and say hello the nerdy nerdy world of nerdies.
But, you know what, those thick glasses became so IN at some point -- it made me think whether I should get one too. But, I'll pass on my last optical shop. Anywhere but there -- maybe at ZenniOptical.com if I need to do it online. And to make it even more interesting, I hear sawZenni on Fox.
Besides, I think I really do need one, and not just for the sake of style, because right now -- I can't clearly see the letters 6 meters from where I am. Oh boy!

News: What's in Women's Menstrual Blood?
There are more to a women's menstrual blood that just being a monthly visitor. Here is a press release to show exactly what they are:
Taking Control: Future Therapies for a Host of Serious Diseases May Be Found in Women's Menstrual Blood
July 07, 2008: 01:28 PM EST
OLDSMAR, Fla., July 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- With today’s hectic lifestyle, where most women are juggling careers, family, relationships, and a host of activities, the idea of possibly facing a serious illness in the future is not something that readily comes to mind -- especially when a woman is in the prime of her life. But what most women don’t know, is that the key to treating a number of possibly life-threatening diseases that she, a parent, a sibling or even her children may face in later years, such as osteoporosis, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, may be found within her own body -- in vital stem cells, which can now be harvested from her own menstrual blood.
Now, thanks to the revolutionary research and technology of C’elle, a service dedicated to providing women with a safe and easy method of collecting and preserving stem cells found in her menstrual fluid each month, even the busiest woman can take control of her future, right in the privacy of her own home. With C’elle’s non-invasive collection process, menstrual cells are processed and cryo-preserved (stored at a very low temperature) for potential cellular therapies that may be used in the future. These self-renewing cells one day may even be used for sports medicine or cosmeceutical treatments, such as anti-aging therapies.
"C’elle enables and empowers a woman to take control of her future health, and possibly of those genetically closest to her, in a fast, painless and stress free way," said Michelle Kay, Marketing and Sales Manager for C’elle. "We live in exciting times, as science and technology are discovering how extremely valuable menstrual blood stem cells really are, and the enormous treatment potential they represent for future therapies. C’elle’s ongoing research is supporting these promising findings."

my eyes!
My eyes has been hurting lately. Usually, the pain is felt below the eyebrows -- that space in the eye socket part. I actually had some prescription glasses but I haven't been able to wear them since I accidentally sat on it. I think its obvious what happen to the glasses.
Now -- I usually feel the pain when I'm infront of the computer for a long duration. Well, I just wished there is an optical shop just like Zenni. The glasses are very affordable and very stylish. Now I'm wishing that I have one.
For all of you who are using Zenni -- Thank you for using Zenni Optical. I just hope the same will be said to me once I get my own pair of prescription eyeglasses.

drug rehabilitation
Last Friday night, there was a momentary excitement just outside our apartment. I didn't really caught up with the whole happening but by asking around I came to know that it was a drug related issue -- apparently, some guy was very very high and just ran around without his pants on. It actually runs deeper that just being high, its common that some people try to drown their problems with drugs.
Eventually, these guys get hooked on the thing, and the last resort for them would be drug rehab. Up in south central Michigan, Stone Hawk Rehabilitation Center is located. They have the best facilities, but most importantly, their program is one of the best approaches which teaches lifestyles that fit with their needs without the involvement of drugs and even alcohol. If I were related to that naked guy, I would probably send him here.

Got Reserved!
The holidays are coming. For some, as early as last month, it's that time to prepare for the Christmas decors, Christmas lights and most especially, the Christmas tree. As it says in a song, "It's that most wonderful time of the year."
But, for some, it's the perfect time to relax and go somewhere and take a vacation. Hotel Reservations are probably what these people are doing right now. And I don't blame them -- and I won't certainly will not if they go to -- Hotel Reservations for it. It's a one-stop vacation website -- where most of the things you need on a vacation can be found -- from hotels to flights and even rental vehicles. Wanted to go on a cruise instead? No problem! They have that too.

Insurance stuff
I just came to realize (apparently, it's realization day today) that next year would be the last year for the payment of my life insurance. It's not really the premium of all premium insurance but it's rather enough. And since I plan to get a car soon (in my vocabulary -- soon means 2 years or more), having to compare car insurance plans as early as now might not be a bad idea. Getting insights also from friends and colleagues about their own Car insurance is another way to choose the best one.
And even sooner (in my vocabulary -- sooner means 10 years or more), getting my house -- to be erected in my hometown "sooner" -- insured will also be taken into consideration. Especially, there have been rampant recent reports lately about houses on fire. I wouldn't want to end up homeless because of a flash flood.
I wonder if my parent's house has Home insurance. I have to ask -- they had just finished paying up for its mortgage and it would be devastating if something tragic happens.
I never thought about these things if it wasn't for these opportunity at PPP. Thanks!

Dream Vacation -- Australia
From the vast lands of Europe, we go to the Land Down Under -- Australia. Australia is also one of the best places to go for your dream vacation. To know why -- we will start in a place where the name itself attracts almost anyone -- Gold Coast.
Gold Coast is one of the most desirable places in the world to live ranked on political, social, economic and environmental factors, personal safety and health. There are so many things to do in Gold Coast you'll hope that you have enough time to do them all. It really doesn't matter if you're into Action and Adventure or even just pure Nightlife and Entertainment -- just stay in one of the hotels in gold coast and make enough time to do all the exciting stuff to do and events to see.
One of the jewels of Gold Coast that I must go to is Surfers Paradise. I'm not a surfer -- I haven't even tried to surf. What I really love about this place is its amazing beaches which fuses perfectly with the vibrant city. You can either stay at one of the hotels in surfers paradise or stay in a beach resort -- it doesn't really matter -- it will still end up to be one of the best holiday destinations.
Next destination is further south -- Adelaide. As they say, the best of Australia can be found at the south. The Outback is one of the experience that would never want to miss. It is virtually an unknown place for anybody -- a life that far far away from their daily routines. Aside from the Outback, there are also other amazing stuff to do like 4WD driving on dirt tracks, and for that ultimate rush, shark diving. Probably, a day or two stay in one of the hotels in adelaide wouldn't suffice for all of these.
A little over to the west of Australia -- we go to Perth. Western Australia has over 120,000 kilometers of coastline. Thus, it would be appropriate to begin a life of sun, surf(again!), and sea. Cottesloe Beach where people of all ages flock for that perfect swim, surf, and snorkel. If you are into for some untouched wilderness, Perth has one of the unspoiled wilderness which is teeming with ancient forests. Anytime of the year, perth hotels are always on their heels to accommodate tourists that come to their place.
And that's it. My dream vacation at the land down under.

GPS Services
While I was in Japan, I only rode a car a few times. Well, because mostly I take the train and subway to go to where I want to go. In the few times that I rode a car -- there were a couple of things I noticed but the most outstanding was that almost all cars -- about 95% -- have a GPS system installed. Except for that one thing though, when we rented a business car, it didn't have any GPS system installed on it. Instead, one of my Japanese friend brought along a portable GPS system -- that gadget was also cool.
It made begged the question -- Why is it that this is absolutely necessary? For individuals, I guess having a GPS helps one find the right way to a certain destination. For businesses, especially those who are at the service and trucking services, I think this would really help them.
I've looked over the web and found one company that provides such service and more -- GPS Insight. For one, I think their pricing is very reasonable and affordable -- at only $1.5 - $2.0 per day per vehicle -- this is already a bargain price. With real time map updates and 2 minute vehicle locations will absolutely help a company's dispatchers know exactly which vehicle is close to a new order -- no need to call the driver for their location. Compared to other GPS Tracking services where it takes 15 minutes to release updates.
Moreover, there are intuitive and powerful reports and graphs that can provide information regarding Begin/End of day report, Fuel consumption report, idle time report etc. These reports and graphs will help a company to become even efficient and be able to save money due to minimization of identified waste. For instance, the Begin/End of day report will to identify fraudulent hours claimed by the company's drivers. The Idle Time and Fuel consumption report can help identify wasteful vehicles and driver's behavior.
If a company needs more specialized services, GPS Insight can provide Routing Optimization and Navigation Integration and even Cellphone Integration and Mapping where a simple text message one will be able to check vehicle/group locations.
One of the most important service provided is GPS Insight's customer support. 24hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year -- a company will be able to reach a technician even between 12AM to 6AM PST. They also have a FAQ section and an online support service.
For various updates regarding the company, its products and services -- GPS Insight blog is the place to go. One can even subscribe for instant notification regarding any new happenings around GPS Insight.

Garage Floors
I love the way my room is ending up. But, as I went outside through our very small garage, I noticed some things. Like the garage flooring, for instance, is banged up, old, and oil-stained. The old car did most of the contribution to which the floor ended up looking like it is. Sometimes, my dogs like to sleep in the garage floor, and I'm afraid that I might mistake them as the floor too -- sooo that's where they get there black stains. At first I thought, they got it from the BBQ grill.
So that's it -- I think I know what to work on next.

Poker Online
The first time I played was way back 18 years ago. I didn't play with the traditional cards, it was a poker computer game. I can still remember playing with it my cousin's 486 PC, and monochrome monitor. It went on for just a few hours -- well, because I didn't understand the game.
Well, today, I still don't fully understand the game. I watch shows about it though. I just enjoy watching celebrities or rich guys betting high stakes in the game, it also brings upon me that thrill.
Anyway for those of us who still want to play but can't seem to lift yourself out from your computers, you can play poker online. But, if you have a Mac PC, this seems hard to do especially with scarcity of poker computer for Mac systems -- that's why you could go to Mac Poker Online.
I personally love the motif of the site -- all green -- it makes you feel 2 things: 1.) Money and 2.) Luck. It does not only look good -- it is filled with unique content and features as well. For instance, the Mac Online Poker Rooms. You can select from a variety of rooms available depending mostly on the type of poker room you like. As of this writing, the Pacific Poker room is it's current featured room.
If you think you can only play Poker at this site, think again. It's basically an online casino as well. I think its more because of its Online Casino Bonuses. Upon signing up to a new online casino, one can avail of the splendid bonuses. Isn't that an additional incentive in itself?
But, don't take my word for it. Just visit the site right now, especially you -- Mac Users -- and you'll definitely know what I mean.

Be Mist-ified
I've been a fan of Stephen King Movies. Although at some level I hate watching suspense thriller movies alone, Stephen King Movies are a little more than just horror or thriller or even suspense movies.
For instance, the last Stephen King Movie that I saw was -- 1408. Almost half of the movie wasn't really all that scary. I love the build up. It really amazes me how Stephen King does all this unexpected twists. My hairs stood up at the scene when the paranormal specialist was waving to a man across the street from room 1408 -- but -- only to find out that it was a mirror image of himself. This scene got into me because I was kinda staying in a hotel too while I was watching the movie -- about a couple of days -- I was afraid to look out the window.
I bet The Mist by Stephen King which will be out November 21st will be as hair raising, twists filled and downright scary as well. The trailer alone spooked me out already. Don't take my word for it -- watch the trailer at the official website. And I just read the synopsis from there and it sounds really intriguing how -- The Mist -- is breeding monsters but it also brings out the "monsters" within the people trapped within it.
This is another Stephen King Movie that I wouldn't dare miss.

Hotel Booking
I was just booking a hotel for my wife as she comes here. I can't believe that there are hotel staff who, when receiving a potential client on the phone, do not give you that pleasing personality stuff.
I wonder as I fulfill those dream vacation places and find myself in the position of doing the hotel reservation -- would the experience be slightly the same? For instance, booking hotels in Barcelona perhaps -- would I hear a pleasing and angelic voice or a rather rigid one and heavily hang up the phone just because I don't speak Spanish or Catalan?
I think it wouldn't be a problem booking hotels in New York because I have a relative there -- a cousin. She can do the booking for me and all I need to do is check in. I'd love to visit New York especially during Christmas and New Year. I hope she books me at New York Palace Hotel -- this is definitely a long shot.
I wonder how it is like to stay in a hotel in Rome? As they say, staying at a Rome hotel is like enjoying the city's richness in art like a huge open art gallery. This is certainly be hysteria for art lovers.
Overall, I still find it convenient to book online -- but -- it lacks that feeling of assurance sometimes. But, what really matters is the vacation -- and there is really nothing you can do but enjoy.

My Room needs lights
A couple of entries back -- there I mentioned that I had plans making my room bigger to prepare for the arrival of the baby. Now that he is here -- that plan is now being put into action.
To make my room bigger -- we had to break down the concrete wall which separates the room adjacent to mine. 3 weeks ago -- we did just that -- and now the room definitely look bigger. Well, it looked bigger but it does not necessarily mean prettier. Now, I'm guessing that my room needs some light fixtures -- something to brighten up that still gloomy room of mine.
I'm just picking ideas as I go along this plan -- I think chandeliers are cool and it gives any room that classic ambiance -- putting one chandelier in the middle would look good in there. But then, on second thought, this isn't a president suite were talking about here. That idea would probably be in the list -- but -- I doubt that it would get the vote -- we'll see.
What I'm really looking for is a home lighting effect that would be very baby-friendly as well as adult friendly. A wall mounted lamp perhaps near the queen size bed. And some picture light at the corner for the crib. This is my first time with this kind of thing so maybe later another idea gets tossed around and maybe, these initial ones might get scratched.
