I can't think of any good or bad title for this entry. The title of this entry is more likely the worse title ever made.
I'm disturbing my series blog in way for this entry -- well, because its my birthday. I assume that there are only about 1-2 people (me and myself) who reads this blog so posting here that today is my birthday won't send a tsunami to neighboring blogs.
Yes -- ladies and gents -- today is my birthday. A couple of turns of the doorknob opens room 30 of Life Motel Inn.
Anyway, I had this birthday planned over the week. I planned to spend it alone in my room. Buy myself a slice of cake -- a birthday candle -- beer -- and take pictures of myself spending my birthday by myself. It is my way of accessing my loner persona. To some I'm a happy-go-lucky guy -- but actually -- I spend most of the time alone either in my room or go somewhere alone or sometimes just play the guitar.
Instead of spending this day as planned -- this happened -- [pictures will follow -- hoy Hannah! ang pictures!]
My Japanese officemates and bosses planned that today we would have our Welcome Party. "There goes my week long plan..."
Indeed it was so much fun -- I think it beats the hell of spending birthday alone. We were up on the roof of this hotel -- eat all you can -- drink all you can. Great food. Splendid beer. Superb sky view and a beautiful view of the city. Interesting conversations with my fellow officemates while training here in Japan.
The total opposite of how I pictured my first birthday here in Japan would be. And I thought I would spend it wallowing in my bed watching Japanese programs and feeling my heart getting heavier and heavier. As they say it in the Heroes TV Series --
"The future is not written in stone."
I am just glad how I spent my birthday -- 8 hours of work -- 3 hours of fun -- 1.5 hours in my hotel room wallowing in my bed thinking about home, missing, and day dreaming -- and 1.5 hours of rest to avoid myself seeing a bright light in the sky calling my name -- to my Filipino friends -- binabangungot po ako -- ayaw ko pa pong gustong ma tiguk!
I would like to thank all for the emails, texts messages and for the personal greetings. Thank you very much.
