Remember that article from People Asia and the person (or ummm -- hehe -- nevermind) who decided to just speak trash about OFWs? I know you remember. Who could forget, right? Here is an update that I didn't see coming.
Well, apparently, she was "humbled" by what she did after hearing from all over the blogosphere (especially from Filipino bloggers) about the supposedly "funny" content on her article and now she is sorry for it. Well, apparently.
If you feel doubtful, I don't blame you. In that time that she wrote the article, I think she had enough time to review her work (being the professional(?) that she is), and had second thoughts about those discriminating thoughts. But still, she submitted her article -- what I don't get is that why the editors of the magazine just let it slip through and printed the damned article. I really have no idea what happens in the whole magazine business -- but, shouldn't this be the case?
What do you think? A publicity stunt perhaps? Or just to prove a point that the Filipinos are not pushovers? Or maybe, to further her Fame and ultimately -- Glory?
An excerpt from here apology:
"To say that this article was not meant to malign, hurt or express prejudice against the OFWs now sounds hollow after reading through all the blogs from Filipinos all over the world. I am deeply apologetic for my insensitivity and the offensive manner in which this article was written, I hear you all and I am properly rebuked."
I'm not really sure if she really did write this -- or even if she did -- she is deeply sincere about it. I think we will never know for sure. For the whole apology -- here.
