How to unbox a chocolate slab with an iPad inside.

The first time I saw this, I was like "What!?! Chocolate iPad!" (yumm.. chocolaaaaaaate... drool).

Now, girls, ladies, next time your man sends you some chocolate, don't devour it right away as if Hershey's has stopped production. This also goes to those ladies who keep the chocolates in the fridge - it might do some good if you examine it for a little while. Like little missy here

Here is the link for the complete article: iPad un(chocolate)boxing.

Oh man! So... sending flowers and chocolates isn't good enough now a days huh? C'mon, how about that saying where love is all that matters. Surely, that thing is still flying around right? right?

Sfilling Check!

I misspel a lot of wurds. I'm not even sure of the spelling of some words lately. Like -- colleague -- which I spelled as -- collegeaue. That's why when I write my entries I must at least do a round of proofreading. If you check around your Internet browser program, you might find very convenient tool that would do spell check. For instance, Firefox has this "Spell check this field" option which is currently set right now which in turn underscored the words -- "misspel" -- "wurds" and "collegeaue" above.

Apparently, getting words misspelled is everywhere -- even here:

You don't see it? Here is a closer look:

I took this picture a couple of months ago -- maybe around June or July of this year. I just recently bumped to it which resulted to this entry.

I'm just saying that it might be that it's perfectly normal to misspell some words. Even big companies like the one above makes them -- well, it just goes to show that it could be more "LIVE"r than that!

BER time!

BER time -- months that end in BER -- usually means -- 1) The year is nearing its end 2) Christmas is around the corner.

This year will be different -- BER means -- Be Extra Ready -- one of the days of this month -- my little and long awaited package from the heavens will arrive -- delivered by Stork Delivery Incorporated. I can't wait to get home and hold him on my arms -- and touch those tiny hands of his.

This opens up an entirely new chapter of every person's life -- I firmly believe. That's why I will be opening up a new blog dedicated to being a daddy. It's purpose -- to share the unforgettable memories -- it will also be a venue for parents to share tips and tricks to parenting, hopefully.

I will be posting the URL soon.

Filipino Stand Up Comedian made it at the Tonight Show

The title probably just screamed what this post is all about. They call him Jo Koy.

To quote:

"
Jo Koy began standup comedy in 1996 at a comedy club in Las Vegas. The bright lights of Las Vegas and the stage allowed Koy to see what his passion truly was... a love for comedy and the stage. Soon Koy moved from open mic night to becoming one of the most requested comedians at Catch a Rising Star, a signature show at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. Fans were impressed by the high energy and physical emotion Koy exuded to the stage. He was soon making everyone laugh. A talent coordinator from Los Angeles spotted Koy and landed him his first television appearance on the nationally syndicated show BET'S Comic View. Koy has earned the respect of a great comedian. Viewers have now laughed with Koy on two seasons of Comic View and Showtime at the Apollo. He is currently touring the college circuit as a featured comedian and performs in clubs across the country.

Koy has opened for headlining acts of Dave Chappelle (Chappelle Show), Mike Epps (Next Friday), and Snoop Doggy Dogg. The overseas American Troops in Japan, Korea and Okinawa had the opportunity to witness Koy's energetic and physical style of comedy during the USO Tour. It was an experience that the troops and Koy will never forget. Koy has enjoyed his years in stand-up comedy and looks forward to helping the world laugh.
"

Here he is again -- at the Jamie Foxx -- Laffapalooza event. Enjoy!

Dattebayo down again?

Update: Dattebayo is back. (September 6, 2007)

They got me last April 1st, I admit it, I freaked out -- as an April Fool Joke -- when they said they got shutdown by the Department of Justice.

To some extent, I still don't agree that they putting a link to an article about Filipinos written by some spineless jerk -- who stayed anonymous (because he is a spineless jerk) -- over a recent mishap.

But, they are good at what they do -- so -- finding out that the site is down, as I write this, is like finding out that you ran out of potato chips although you know for certain that potato chips is not that entirely good for you.

I don't know (yet) what is happening or what has happened -- I'm sure I would like to know why.

The Loey and Billie Show

I kinda miss the intrigues, especially the showbiz related ones, that often blooms anytime in the my motherland. Compared to where I am now -- the comparison lies between one and none. It takes sometime getting use to this unevenness.

Last Saturday I finally received news (or intriga) about two of the biggest and most famous noontime TV hosts from two of the biggest TV Channels. Let's jump right to it. It started with a "glinched in the design" -- check this video out --

The big prize wasn't even in the violet wheel? No!!?!? How did that happen? Oh! It's in the host's hands -- it's OK folks! Nothing to worry about!

Huh?!

From what I've heard, this other guy from the other station started making intended puns over the incident. Saying that over at their noontime show, no rigging or whatever you call it. (of course, cheating is not of them -- how dare you!? :))

And so -- over the past few days -- the guy from the other station could not have bare the sort of "trash" talk -- and thus, said this and that publicly. The other guy from the other station as well couldn't just sit around and take this lightly and for granted -- made his own public "right-back-at-you" speech. Just watch the video below for the complete story -- here.

Are you also gullible?

I'm in mood to blog -- and found nothing to blog about. And I just thought that maybe I'll find an interesting video around Youtube. Apparently, I did find an interesting video -- here it is --

Some of you are familiar with the Japanese Anime -- Naruto -- right? It's one of my favorites -- and that video is the Tagalog version of the anime's opening -- or not.

If you look closely, you will see on the upper left -- ABS-CBN's logo -- and at the bottom -- a "Parental Guidance" viewer discretion warning. If your first thoughts were -- "They probably got this from ABS-CBN." -- worry not -- that was mine too. Watching the video until the end will probably make you think -- "What a piece of crap!" -- again -- worry not -- that was my first thoughts about it too.

Is ABS-CBN already showing Naruto Shippuuden? I decided to go to ABS-CBN's official site -- and surprisingly -- it's not even on any of their News or schedules.

Needless to say -- this is a fake video. Nevertheless, it seems that its making a buzz. If you go and check out the actual post on YouTube, read the comments -- you will see it has become a heated discussion about racism, Filipinos being thieves, etc.

Moving on -- if you have Dattebayo's Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 26 copy (if you don't, you can get a torrent file at dattebayo.com) -- go to the very last part of the opening -- there's a comment there that states -- "LOL Filipino TV. We see what you did there." I think this is really uncalled for -- but, apparently, there is more about it because Dattebayo made a press release about it. (Read it here.)

If you went on and read the press release -- it's basically about the story I'm telling you here, and a little apology that was given to all who was hurt by the mindless comment. I'm really glad that they did because they took the comment literally without finding out the real facts about the stupid video. And perhaps, to those short fuses who just blew up and splintered words over at Dattebayo (probably our own Filipino brothers and sisters) -- it would have better next time if -- lemme see -- err -- we too, first of all, found out the real deal about the root of all this mess -- that crappy video and the jerk-off who -- whatever his/her intentions were -- made this lousy and good for nothing video!

Peace! Let's keep the peace at least even in cyberspace.

But wait -- I thought -- its all fine and dandy already -- I think this is just a big misunderstanding -- BUT -- what I don't get is why in the F**K would they post a link at the bottom of that press release with this:

About Philipines (sic)

Third world country according to their own inhabitants. For more information, see http://pepper.idge.net/slashdot/philipinos.

I know they got accused of being racist, homosexual, insensitive, and disrespectful, in some degree I think they deserve it -- but what is all this? What are they trying to prove? Again -- I think this is really uncalled for. I think you have proven your gullibity enough already. I just hope Dattebayo is prepared to receive "some" hatemails.

An Apology Given

Remember that article from People Asia and the person (or ummm -- hehe -- nevermind) who decided to just speak trash about OFWs? I know you remember. Who could forget, right? Here is an update that I didn't see coming.

Well, apparently, she was "humbled" by what she did after hearing from all over the blogosphere (especially from Filipino bloggers) about the supposedly "funny" content on her article and now she is sorry for it. Well, apparently.

If you feel doubtful, I don't blame you. In that time that she wrote the article, I think she had enough time to review her work (being the professional(?) that she is), and had second thoughts about those discriminating thoughts. But still, she submitted her article -- what I don't get is that why the editors of the magazine just let it slip through and printed the damned article. I really have no idea what happens in the whole magazine business -- but, shouldn't this be the case?

What do you think? A publicity stunt perhaps? Or just to prove a point that the Filipinos are not pushovers? Or maybe, to further her Fame and ultimately -- Glory?

An excerpt from here apology:

"To say that this article was not meant to malign, hurt or express prejudice against the OFWs now sounds hollow after reading through all the blogs from Filipinos all over the world. I am deeply apologetic for my insensitivity and the offensive manner in which this article was written, I hear you all and I am properly rebuked."

I'm not really sure if she really did write this -- or even if she did -- she is deeply sincere about it. I think we will never know for sure. For the whole apology -- here.

Blog Day -- Did you know?

I've been around the blogosphere for around -- what? -- 3 or 4 years? I've been reading other people's blogs during that time too and it's only up until now that I came to know about this -- BlogDay and it's on its 3rd year!

Bloggers have their own day. I think that the creating a blogger's union thing was kinda over the top -- but this -- this kinda suits everybody I think.

To quote:

"BlogDay was created with the belief that bloggers should have one day dedicated to getting to know other bloggers from other countries and areas of interest. On that day Bloggers will recommend other blogs to their blog visitors."

It will be on the 31st of August -- and this is what one blogger is basically supposed to do:

Have a post recommendation of 5 new blogs -- and notify those 5 blogs that they are recommended as part of BlogDay 2007.

That's it! It's that simple!

So bloggers -- mark August 31 red on your calendars -- this is BlogDay!

Harry Potter and the Mid-Life Crisis

As the book progresses, and as Harry Potter Movies nearly finishes all 7 books -- we see Harry Potter (the actor as well) grow up.

If you think about it, he will eventually turn mid-20's -- all of a sudden (like magic) -- Harry Potter will be experiencing this -- Mid-Life Crisis.

Brilliant, isn't it?

Alibata -- Any idea?

I was kinda disappointed with myself because -- I don't what this is -- Alibata. Maybe I did when I was learning Filipino way back primary or high school or even college, but I won't pass that as an excuse. That would be lame!

When I was ask about Alibata, I didn't have any idea -- the first thing that came in my mind was that it was name for an Pinoy band. Well, if you know what Alibata is -- and you are a Filipino -- good for you man! Because, it's our pre-Hispanic Philippine writing system.

My name in Alibata translates to -- Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket.

I know Katakana -- Hiragana -- and I don't know Alibata!? I'm going to take some time to learn our own script, why won't you too? :)

Learn more about our writing heritage here.

The Alibata symbols are here.

My Pet is Found!

Happy day! My pet is found!

She was found behind a closet. What probably happened was that -- While behind the closet, it was pushed back to the wall blocking her way out. Maybe, she just stayed there thinking that she will be found that easily, well, apparent not. What I don't get is that -- when she was called -- she didn't even made a whispering meow -- she just stayed in that dark and cool place silently.

She stayed there the whole night and, come morning, she finally meowed out.

There you are!

My Pet is lost!

It's a sad day... I lost my pet -- my Siamese cat is lost -- Yunni is lost -- I hope I will be able to see her again when I get back home.

See -- look how cute and glamorous she is. She is thin in the picture. But she is fatter now -- partly because, she is also pregnant. And now she is gone -- missing -- adrift -- astray -- disappeared -- invisible -- vanish -- wandering -- wayward.

We are hoping that she just seeked a safe place to deliver her babies. Or -- if somebody decided to just pick her up -- hopefully -- she will be well taken cared of.

To that somebody, here are a few tips for you. Her favorite is tuna, water in brine. She doesn't like Whiskas fish biscuits. She doesn't eat anything you put on the table unless it's fish or it has meat on it. She doesn't eat rice. Her favorite junk food is Mr. Chips. She also likes cheese. You'll know when she's hungry because she stays beside her food bowl. She cleans herself until she shines and dust free -- don't disturb her when she is doing this. Her favorite toy is her catnip ball. She has this time during the day when she just runs around in the living room as if she is running away from someone with the intent to kill. And mostly, spends the day -- standing by the window -- sleeping by the doormat -- and taking a kitty bath.

Yunnicat -- sleeping on my wrist while I'm surfing the net -- I can't even make a slight move of the mouse with her like this.

sleeping -- stoned -- and too tired.

Yunnicat -- humiliated. Poor yunni. She was a good sport with this -- trust me.

Where are thou the Yunnicat? Oh where? Oh where?

Laying The Smackdown on Filipinos?

Apparently, there are two insensitive-racist jerk offs who decided to layeth the smacketh downeth on Filipinos and its products sold around some parts of the world.

I'm fired up by this "classy" and "fabulous" biatch who without even thinking about the consequences when she decided to badmouth OFWs.

If you don't want to be blown away by the glamorous write ups about how high-class she is, read paragraphs 5 and 6 directly.

Read the entry here.

This other biatch just decided to badmouth Filipino products. If she just kept it for herself, it could not have fired up this guy's entry to digitally kick her ass to digitally all the corners of the world.

Law allowing kids to marry?

I'm going to be a daddy soon and, for those of us who have kids who are still very young, this law is very very scary.

Although this law has been passed in the state of Arkansa, United States, I'm worried that even 1st world country lawmakers can make mistakes like this.

I'm not a lawyer or even politically inclined. But, I think it is safe to assume that lawmakers can think of the most obvious loopholes for a given law, and for some reason(s), this slipped through.

They are planning to fix this mistake, but, like in any law that has been passed, I think this has to go through the whole process again. I'm not really sure how all that law stuff works, but, as long as this still out in the open -- some might just take advantage of it.

The bill reads: "In order for a person who is younger than eighteen (18) years of age and who is not pregnant to obtain a marriage license, the person must provide the county clerk with evidence of parental consent to the marriage."

Infants are younger than 18, right? Obsurd. I know but the law allows it. Let's say a smart-ass kid of age 12 is able to provide an evidence of parental consent. God knows how he did it, but he did it -- hypothetically, it allows it, right?

For the whole story: Law allows kids to marry

Cheatahs never prospa!

Lovers -- together for 4 years and the guy is about to propose to the girl on Christmas day.

He was also going to propose on one knee too. Ain't that ever so perfect?

Fortunately, it just so happen that, apparently, someone know and saw something about someone doing something to somebody.

Hear the whole story and, eventually, the dumping part here.

You will know why I said "fortunately".

Cheatahs never prospa!

Remember Minority Report?

Remember Tom Cruise waving his arms around and dragging windows from one side to the other?

Well, we are almost there -- let's just settle for surfaces, as of the moment.

The Longest Weekend - Part III

This entry is in my drafts since February 15, 2005. I just had to finish it.

I'm sort of in a blogging spree this week. This is a very very rare season for me.

Anyway, I had this series of entries entitled 'The Longest Weekend', if some of you could recall. The third part of the series is right below. If you haven't been following the series, or just merely forgot, you might want to read or re-read parts I and II.

The Longest Weekend - Part III

And the journey continues...

I decided to just walk from my baby's house to mine. The distance isn't that great, although right at that moment I hope it was. By walking, I would stall my next mission. Yes! What a plan! It's a 10 to 20 minute walk assuming I would just walk straight to my house. What if I circled around the subdivision a couple of times, a hundred times perhaps, I could really kill some time.

And so the first part of this mission began...

The Walk.

I could still remember the times that I walked from their house to mine a few years back. Those weren't a walk in the park. At 10pm, there were dogs at every side of the road, and they are barking like crazy as if seeing a thief. A thief in long sleeves and leather shoes (I was a lecturer back then if you didn't know). There were very dark alleys and unlighted streets. But compared to this "walk", there were no dogs, and the sky is bright and clear, but the feeling is the same, in fact, that was even scarier.

Finally, I reached my house -- As I stand in front of it -- if there was a time to laugh, that was it. Because the next series of events, they were not some comical skit.

Between diversity and my resolve.

Opening the gates of our house was like opening the gates of hell. Beyond those gates, lies the Bridge of Hesitation. This is that part of the journey where you are faced with doubt, and hesitation. Your resolve is questioned. It is that point in every man where when he/she is truly faced with real diversity, and the decision that will be made at this moment will forever send waves into his/her future.

And my decision was -- to not falter despite the true fear inside me and embrace whatever is ahead. In order words, accomplish the mission and tell my parents about the big news.

The Encounter - Moment of Truth.

At that point, it was a distinct point in my life where what I have to say within the four walls of my house will truly bring impact to my life and my parent's. I had to tell them.

You can just imagine the shock that my mother felt upon seeing me right at the doorstep without even a clue that I was coming. I let myself in when my mother opened the door and with a suspicious look on her face, she asked why was I home. I don't know what came over me but -- I just blurted out everything to her. It was like a direct hit from a torpedo launched from a submarine into the heart of Metropolis -- without even a pinch of hesitation. Too much determination? Maybe. But, the rocket has been launched and target has been chosen and it would just be a matter of time.

Time -- I really did wish it was something I had right at moment. Stopping time would be even better. But, my voice and the words in carried have already reached its intended ears. What happened next was something I really did not imagine that would happen --

My mother spoke no words -- not even a single syllable.

There might be a Part IV.

Ducks in a Row

One has to wonder -- at some point in his or her life --

"Have I placed my ducks in a row?"

Being away and alone, practically missing part of my life that has been there ever since, gives you the chance to reflect about these stuff.

Have one's ducks in a row.

In 4 months or so, I am foreseeing a new life style. Changes in priorities. Changes -- I anticipate a lot of them.

At this point, my ducks are all wondering about in the pond. Some dipping their heads for food, for entertainment, and some ducks -- well -- they are dipping their heads in places that they shouldn't be.

But, slowly they are getting the point -- in due time -- they will be all lined up in row.

There is a funny but meaningful saying in Bisaya --

"Bisag unsa kalalom ang sapa -- taga liog ra gihapon sa itik"
(It doesn't matter how deep the river is -- for the duck, it's always only a neck deep."

For me, it just means that -- no matter how much you try to get deeper into the river, you will soon realize that the most important thing is at the top of it -- you need air to breath and continue your life and embrace whatever it brings to you.

Let's have our ducks in a row -- I think it's never too early, but then again, it might be too late.

That's my reflection for the day. I hope it's meaningful to everyone as it is to me.
